day 1

After making a couple simple iPhone apps (Cash Power & Melaina Comics) I have decided to try my hand at coding an iphone game. I am starting this blog to try and give back to the iphone development community some of the good will that I have received as I have started down this iPhone development path --That and I thought that making a public record of progress made on the game might encourage me to finish what appears to me to be a massive undertaking.

As of right now I know the game that I want to make, however I have no idea what it will end up looking like in the end.

I'm working on creating a product statement and defining my potential users so I can design my game accordingly.

I'm not sure if I want to share the exact nature of the game I am creating so I may black out certain details CIA style; if you see this: "&&&&&&&&" it means that that information would betray too much about the game and is to remain hidden.

So any way here is what I have as of this moment for the product statement and user profiles:

Name: Martian &&&&&&&&

product statement: A facebook saavy futuristic &&&&&&&& remake with a sense of humor for retro game fans.

primary users:

  • has played &&&&&&&& before
  • likes games
  • looking for an immersive experience, not just a quick distraction,
  • wants to be entertained and challenged, but not too challenged, you shouldn't die unless you really try to screw up
  • has nostalgia for old gaming conventions
  • does not want to drown in story
  • willing to spend a few dollars on a "known" fun game.
  • doesn't like standard console controls ported to the iphone

So that is it so far, and that is it for my first post hopefully I will be updating this regularly, but don't expect really detailed posts because I'm a slow typer and I want to spend my time designing and coding and not blogging, but don't worry I still love you guys. ;)
